Ok, so to start my small introductory series I gave you an Intro to Nick. Now for the blog title “Kholem.” My process of choosing Kholem as my blog title started awhile ago, so I’ll begin there.
Well, I am big fan of music, and especially indie music. The first artist that really got me into indie music was the late Elliott Smith. So as I began to celebrate his entire collection of music, I ran accross a song called Pitseleh. I was intrigued by the word, since it was obviously foreign.
Well, it turned out to be a yiddish word for “little one” I didn’t even know what yiddish meant, but I still liked the word. (Yiddish is an old Jewish language from the Hebrew alphabet) It fascinated me for some reason I still don’t understand.
So a little while ago when I was purchasing a hosting account from GoDaddy, I decided to register a few domains also. At the time, I was listening to Pitseleh, and I was inspired to get the domain. Unfortunately, pitseleh.com was taken. So as a consolation, I started looking up other “cool” yiddish words online. At this point, I ran into…
Kholem. Kholem is a yiddish word for dream. I thought it sounded cool, and it had a fitting meaning representing the point in life that I am at. I am dreaming and preparing for my future. I always planned on making a blog with it, but I didn’t get around to it until recently. So there it is. Kholem, aka dream, aka my personal blog. Dream on.
