I just got done buying $70 worth of domains. It was fun, and half of the purchases were just impulse buys, which I rationalized with the “$20 off $75+” coupon. So if you passed 4th grade math, you can figure out my savings.
I bought a lot of .info domains, since they are only $1.20 right now. The great deal on .info domains is suppose to expire tonight, but if I were to guess, they will continue to sell them dirt cheap for the easy money. I also bought a .net domain which is the first time ever. I have never bought any domains other than .coms, and honestly, I am kind of worried about not buying .coms. Because, what if my sites got huge and the owner of the .com prospers off of my success. I just don’t like that feeling. But for the .info sites, they’re going to be niche tagalong sites that will gain a bunch of PR from my travel and future college related sites (knock on wood).
I’m really just looking to flip the .infos for $200 each after they gain a bit of PR. They have great domains, and should gain some good niche traffic from the long tail. I can’t wait to sell them. So if everything goes as planned, they should profit me an easy somewhat difficult $700+.
The .net domain is going to be a “big project” of mine this summer. This big project should feed the PR and strength of my .infos in about 6 months. See how it comes together? Or suppose to come together? If this works though, I’ll probably redo it all again on a much larger scale. Wish me luck, and pray that I don’t get lazy… or swamped with homework this fall.
