I received a paid review request, and accepted because the site looking for a review has a very interesting niche that it’s looking to exploit. This particular marketing site is looking to target dentists and the medical industry without good marketing practices, so it falls into a class defined as Dental Practice Marketing.
MedProgress.net is the URL, and it is attempting to be the one-stop marketing center for dental practices. Interesting, since I’ve never seen anyone market their marketing company so specifically to one tiny niche. The services that MedProgress offer are not limited to online services though unlike most sites looking for reviews. Along with the obvious dental website design, this company is also looking to offer typical offline services to dentists as well with their dental postcards division.
So what do I think? A lot of things. Many pros and cons here.
Pros:
- Dentists are fairly wealthy and don’t won’t haggle over a price, so they’ll more than likely overpay a marketing company.
- It’s a new, unexploited niche (from what I’ve seen anyways)
- Specifically regarding the site, it has a nice design and they get their message across efficiently and effectively (even though it doesn’t seem entirely complete)
Cons:
- The major cons - Generally, I don’t consider the medical professionals to be all that web savvy, so I don’t see many dentists taking the initiative to look online for a dental marketing company. Instead, they’ll more than likely stay local, pay the premium dollar, and not shop around — so I guess that makes the dentists’ wealth kind of a double edged sword.
- Marketing…I think it would be hard to market this site, period. I just don’t see dentist professionals, secretaries, or receptionists congregating online very much, so it’d be hard to find the target market.
With this concept, I could be totally wrong, and dentist professionals may seek out the company. I however wouldn’t bank on this, but would instead try to find a way to market the site offline. I’d focus on my local neighborhood by just cold calling dentists. Having a sort of sales team in different areas would speed up the process as well and could be a beneficial outsourcing opportunity.
All in all, I think this is could find success on whatever level it targets, and it could be interesting to watch.
